Record staff names manually for the Shopify connector

If your store is not on the Shopify Advanced or Plus plan, Shopify does not include staff usernames in the API. Because of this limitation, Better Reports cannot automatically retrieve staff names from Shopify.

To handle this limitation, you can manually record staff names in Better Reports. This creates a stored copy of your Shopify staff data that Better Reports can use in reports.

You can repeat this process at any time to add new staff names or remove former staff members.

💡 If your store is on the Shopify Advanced or Plus plan, staff names can be retrieved automatically and recording users is not available. See Set up a custom app for Shopify user data (Advanced and Plus only).

  1. Open the Monthly sales by POS user report, or any report that includes the User name field.
  2. At the top of the report, select Record a snapshot of staff data.
  3. When the dialogue box opens, open the hyperlink titled this page. The page opens in a new tab.
  4. Copy all of the content from that page.
  5. Paste the copied content into the dialogue box.
  6. Click Record user names.

The User name field will now show your staff names correctly in reports.
