Filter by date fields
In Better Reports, you can add date filters to narrow down the data shown in your reports. These filters aren’t added automatically unless the table you’re using includes a built-in date field, such as Order date.
If the table has a native date field, Better Reports automatically adds a default filter set to All time. You can adjust this filter as needed. If the table does not include a native date field, you’ll need to manually add a date filter. You can identify date fields in the report builder by the calendar icon shown next to the field name.
For general instructions on adding filters, see Filter a report.

Filter by date range
There are two types of date filters you can apply to a date range: dynamic or manual.
Dynamic date range
Dynamic date ranges (1), such as Today, Last 7 days, or Year to date, adjust based on the current date.
For example, a report filtered for Last week always returns the data from the previous week.
💡 Dynamic date range filters are ideal for scheduled reports because the date range updates automatically each time the report runs.
Manual date range
Manual date ranges use fixed start and end dates (2). These ranges do not update automatically.
Filter by date part
Date part filters narrow results to specific components of a date, such as the day, month, or year.
Example: Exclude weekends from your results
To exclude weekends using a date part filter:
- Select DAY OF WEEK
- Select the is not in operator
- Select Saturday and Sunday
Better Reports offers built-in filtering options for the following date parts:
- HOUR OF DAY: 12 AM → 11 PM
- DAY OF WEEK: Monday → Sunday
- MONTH OF YEAR: January → December
- QUARTER OF YEAR: Q1 → Q4
- YEAR NUMBER: From the first year with data to the current year
