Filter a report

Filtering helps you narrow down results so you can focus only on the data that matters. Unlike some reporting tools, Better Reports doesn’t apply any implicit filters — every filter must be added explicitly. This article explains how to add filters to a report so you can narrow results and focus on the data that matters.

⚠️ You can only filter by dimensions in Better Reports. Filtering by measures isn’t supported. To learn more, see Dimensions and measures.

Add an AND or OR filter to a report
  1. Open the report you want to filter
  2. Add a filter condition:
    1. For an AND condition, select Add filter from the top section of the report
    2. For an OR condition, hover over an existing filter you want to group with and select + OR
  3. Select the field you want to filter on
  4. Apply the appropriate operator, such as equals or greater than
  5. Select or enter one or more values, dependent on the operator

💡 You can quickly filter for specific values directly from the report. Select a value in the report, then choose Include to filter to that value, or Exclude to remove it from the results.

⚠️ You must combine negative filters such as “is not in” or “does not contain” using AND, not OR.

When you use OR with negative filters, every record will match at least one condition, so the report returns all data.

For example, with titles A and B:

  • “Title is not A” OR “Title is not B”

→ every title is included, because each one fails only one condition

  • “Title is not A” AND “Title is not B”

→ no titles are included, because both conditions must be true

Use AND to correctly exclude multiple values.
